If resources such as help wanted ads, and employment websites aren't working for you, why not spend most of your time going direct? That's right, why not bypass the middle man and hundreds of other job seekers?

How can you eliminate the middle man? You can apply directly with each employer you're interested in. Virtually all of large employers will list job openings and tons of related information on their websites. Many of them are actually eager to hear from you.

Some of these employers will pay for advertising on other websites, but many will not. You can use this information to your advantage. When you apply directly to an employer and bypass an employment website, you're usually decreasing your competition and increasing your chances for success.

Sure, in large companies you will face some competition. Other job seekers may be applying direct. People within the company may be moving from one department to another. Family members of existing employees may be applying, etc. But the same thing happens with companies that use the online employment websites.
