Attractions in Phoenix are organized by regions because the Phoenix Valley is so vast. You might consider spending a day or two in one part of town.
For example, you could easily spend 2 - 4 days or longer in the Papago Park or airport area. There are some good hotels near the airport that you can use as a home base if you want to be centrally located to most of the attractions. Otherwise there are excellent hotels all over the Valley. You can pick one close the attractions you plan on seeing. If you decide to stay near the airport, that's about half way between downtown Phoenix and Scottsdale.
In Papago Park you can take in the Desert Botanical Gardens and the Phoenix Zoo. If you love plants and animals you might want to spend a whole day at each location. Otherwise if you're short on time, and can walk very fast, you might be able to do both attractions in the same day. If you do this, you'll want to come back and see each attraction at a more leisurely pace.
There so much to do and see, - just at these two attractions, especially on weekends. At the Desert Botanical Garden e.g. you might have several live bands playing at the same, classes going on throughout the day, tours, special exhibits, presentations, a tempting gift shop, ...
Also not far from the airport is downtown Phoenix to the west and downtown Scottsdale or 'Old Scottsdale' to the east. South Mountain, Tempe, Mesa, Chandler, and Gilbert are just a few minutes away too. These cities are SE of the airport. The area from downtown Phoenix to SE Valley has the largest concentration of attractions and things to do, compared to other areas of town.
Our list of things to do is very comprehensive. We also provide links to websites for more information.
The downtown area of Phoenix and the entire city of Scottsdale is famous for it's nightlife. The clubs offer everything from metallica, to rock and roll, to jazz, to blues, to country and western and everything in between. If you love live theatre, our arts & culture category lists world class entertainment.
We listed Phoenix museums on one page because the list of attractions in the City of Phoenix is long. We felt it would be easier to create two pages. One for museums in Phoenix and one for other attractions. Museums in other Arizona cities are listed along with everything else.
