Traveling To Arizona.

Traveling in Arizona can be fun but it can be hazardous as well depending on the time of year where you are. Winter conditions in the mountains of Arizona can mean bad weather, ice, snow, fog, poor visibility, and trip delays. You'll need to dress warmly if you plan on visiting northern Arizona in the winter. The climate can be just as cold as in northern areas of the United States.

During the winter most tourists and visitors travel to desert destinations such as Phoenix, Tucson, Prescott, Yuma and other moderate climates. With 300 days of sun per year and warm weather, the desert provides a welcome retreat from extreme weather conditions in the United States and Canada.

In the summer, northern Arizona becomes a popular destination spot especially for visitors from desert towns of Arizona. Other popular areas in the summer are the Grand Canyon and Sedona. Flagstaff is nice too but there's very little to do in this town. If you like being busy, the weather is good in Flagstaff but you might get bored quickly. The Grand Canyon offers breathtaking views. Sedona offers beautiful weather, spectacular mountain scenery, native art, galleries, shopping, and cheap deals on time shares.

Traveling to Phoenix.

Phoenix is the largest city so you'll need to be careful when you're traveling in and around the area. If you're taking the bus or light rail you can relax and enjoy the scenery. Traveling in Phoenix means there's a lot of fun things to do. This is where you'll find the best travel deals in Arizona.

Most of the cities that make up the Greater Phoenix area have a limited population but put together all the cities in Phoenix cover a vast area. It can take a couple hours on the highway to travel from the west side of Phoenix to the far east side.

Because of competition you will find the best deals when traveling in the Phoenix area. Cheap deals, discounts, coupons, and free things to do can be found year round, however businesses are more likely to offer hot deals during the summer. During the hot summer months, the population of Phoenix drops. Snowbirds go north in April and don't come back until Oct. On top of that many local residents leave town on weekends for moderate climates. Much cooler weather is available close to Phoenix in Prescott, Sedona, Flagstaff, the Grand Canyon, etc. The higher the elevation, the cooler the temperatures are.

Phoenix is one of the top 10 destination spots in the world, especially in the winter. Summers can be uncomfortably hot but if you want to save money and live cheap, it's the best time of year to travel to Phoenix.

Traveling to Tucson.

Tucson is the second largest city in Arizona. Ironically even though it's a smaller town, the traffic is heavier because the roads are not the best. It's all a matter of preference. If you have friends and family in Tucson it might be a good place to stay for the summer. Otherwise traveling to Tucson for a vacation offers visitors many things to do. You can easily spend a few weeks in the Tucson area exploring local attractions.

Traveling to Yuma.

A local weekly newspaper once summed it up very nicely, 'We visited Yuma, so you don't have to'. Seriously though, compared to Phoenix, Yuma is a big disappointment. Don't go to Yuma looking same fun things to do you'll find in Phoenix. Yuma is a small town. Some people prefer it because they like small communities over large sprawling cities. It's all a matter of preference.

As with all desert cities, Yuma offers the best weather in the winter. During the summer Yuma is one of the hottest cities in the United States. You might want to avoid Yuma unless you plan on staying indoors most of the time. Of course Phoenix and Tucson are almost as hot. If you're traveling to the desert in the summer enjoy the outdoors early in the morning. That's the best time of day.

Traveling To The Grand Canyon.

If you're traveling to the Grand Canyon, do it in the summer. That's the best time of year. Temperatures in Phoenix can be 120 degrees when Grand Canyon temperatures are only 70. Even though Phoenix is not far from the Grand Canyon, the high elevation in the mountains of Arizona causes the temperatures to be dramatically lower.

During the winter most tourists avoid the Grand Canyon. Many business close down for the winter and driving conditions can be treacherous.
